The Why Behind the Art
My whole life I’ve been inspired by art and the beauty of nature. In the area where I live, one of our precious natural areas has been repeatedly threatened by development companies. A local activist group was formed to raise awareness about this issue, and I felt a strong calling to join the cause. I put my watercolor supplies in my day pack and went on an adventure to find the perfect view. I found myself swept up in the beauty while I painted the stunning rock formations, trees, faraway mountains, and the peaceful lake that silently seemed to conduct them all in perfect harmony. Brilliant oranges, calming blues, dabbles of greens; I was in my flow, happily painting each boulder and branch. These moments marked the beginning of a new form of artistic expression for me. Little did I know that these brush strokes would also mark the beginning of the next major chapter in my life.
Art Stickers, Nature Stickers, Sticker Stickers…Oh My!
What began as a mission to spread care and awareness for our natural spaces transformed into a bustling bespoke art business, Fine Art Sticker Co. I discovered that pairing fine art with the portability of stickers was the perfect way to get this important message out to the community. The art piece I started that day in The Dells is known as “Watson Lake”. To this day, $5 from every 25” panoramic sticker goes directly to the Save the Dells Foundation. I am deeply called to preserving our natural spaces for our future generations to enjoy, and it makes me feel good to make a difference with this custom sticker design.
But, is the Art Sticker Durable?
I’ll be one of the first people to tell you that I love my car and that the last thing I want is a sticker that cracks, peels, and looks crappy on my beloved Yukon. Trusting the claims of my supplier that their waterproof stickers are the most durable on the market, I gleefully peeled and placed my Watson Lake mountain sticker across the back of my beloved Yukon. Now, more than 3 years later, I am certain that I have created the perfect stickers! The art has held up through years of regular carwash venturing while living in sunny Arizona, which has some of the harshest UV rays on the planet (or so my ginger self has me convinced). Through all of these harsh conditions, my Watson Lake mountain scape looks just as amazing as the first day I placed it on my car.
Stickers Aren’t Just for Kids Anymore
I’m a child of the ’80s. I grew up with Lisa Frank folders for my classwork and coordinating brightly colored stickers of kitties, puppies, and unicorns for my Caboodle. I find myself telling customers that stickers aren’t just for kids anymore; actually, we are those kids, we just grew up. But, instead of placing stickers on folders and pencil cases, we can place them on our cars, computers, water bottles - pretty much anywhere! I’m honored to create nature stickers for adults!
If you’ve made it this far in my post, thank you so much for taking the time to read a little about the why behind Fine Art Sticker Co. and some of the things I feel are important to uphold as a business person. I’m passionate about art, nature, and the quality of my fine art stickers.
In my next blog, I’m going to introduce Fine Art Sticker Co.’s newest expansion into gorgeous Art Shirts. Because these cool stickers deserve to be worn on ultra-soft tees, tanks, and hoodies.
